Summary:
The Capital Projects Commercial Director manages a significant capital investment pipeline across the regional businesses. This position coordinates the development, procurement, and commercial management of the company's capital projects portfolio. The position manages project delivery across all phases of the project lifecycle. The Capital Projects Commercial Director assists in building the organization into a world-class internal service provider with strong credibility at all levels of the organization.
What you'll be contributing:
- Promote and follow all aspects of safety guidelines (CRH safety 16 live Savings Rules) making sure all the designs are developed in accordance with the safety standard required, and participate in meetings as required.
- Leads a team of project commercial managers.
- Develops contract strategies for each project.
- Manages and collaborated with others for the development of original equipment manufacturer (OEM), engineering, and construction contract packages for projects.
- Coordinates the development of the budget envelope for each project for investment approval.
- Coordinates the execution of tender processes and negotiation of contracts.
- Coordinates the commercial management and reporting of all projects in execution.
- Coordinates and manage the commercial close-out of contracts within the project budget envelope, including dispute resolution.
- Reviews and approves the commercial content of project monthly reports
- Purchases the supply chain to scale up the capability of the department and to manage the expanding pipeline of capital projects
- Provide single-point liaison with the contracts manager for regular commercial review of projects and the implementation of updated project delivery processes and procedures
- Other duties as assigned by management.
To succeed in this position, you will need:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Project management, or Construction Management.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Engineering, Project management, or Construction Management. Extensive experience in all facets of project delivery, strong formative background in onsite construction and project management complemented by subsequent experience in estimating, tendering, negotiation, and commercial management. A proven track record in the delivery and/or commercial management of significant projects with a multi-disciplinary supply chain (OEM, Design Engineering, and Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Contractors). Experience in the design & build environment, ideally with a Tier 1 national contractor. Prior experience in a main-contractor design & build environment. Experience in the cement industry is preferred.
