Position Overview

Ensure that CRH sources clearly specified products and services in the Energy category at the best possible TCO, and that CRH fulfils its contractual obligations and other commitments towards its suppliers. The Energy Category Manager participates in all relevant commercial discussions with suppliers related to specific products including electricity, natural gas, diesel, recycled fuel oil, propane, alternative fuels, and other energy technologies and related services.  The category manager also participates and drives regular business review meetings with suppliers; drives multiple source qualifications and provides price provisioning on product level during budgeting / business case phase. The Energy Category Manager will provide utility management for the business units and supports energy efficiency analysis and improvement efforts within the energy category.


Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the energy spend within the business through participation in cross-functional and cross-regional team
  • Translating category and supplier strategies into executable sourcing plans and strategies based on actual portfolio demands and business needs
  • Support Company’s sustainability and innovation objectives through the development and procurement of alternative fuel sources working closely with the Company’s technical and business resources
  • Ensuring cost, availability, innovation, and quality within the sourcing plan creation and execution while driving for savings and improved efficiencies
  • Developing and managing relationship with key suppliers in the category, executing regional supplier selection in line with strategy, requirements, supplier base development, and identification of new suppliers
  • Support the business in establishing budget forecasts within the energy complex
  • Ensuring efficient RFx process from selection through onboarding according to the agreed strategies
  • Leading price negotiations, contract, and life cycle management with suppliers
  • Ensuring compliance with procurement process, SOX and other statutory requirements
  • Liaising with Group/Regional Category Managers to address changes based on supply market dynamics
  • Managing supplier performance accountability for agreed KPIs (internal and external) and their reporting
  • Support the business with respect to utility service arrangements, rates, billing, and overall customer related efficiency programs.  This would include service delivery, reliability, rate analysis, negotiating service and commodity contracts, negotiating incentives for utility efficiency rebate programs, and supporting efficiency capital projects as needed.


Education and Experience

  • Degree in Business or Technical field, a bachelor’s degree would be preferred
  • 6 or more years of Procurement experience in an international setting
  • Recent energy management experience in a large complex multi-country organization
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or energy related background would be preferred
