Summary:

 

The Physical Tester I receives, processes, and maintains records on laboratory samples. This position performs physical tests on aggregates, concrete, cement, lime, and associated materials. The position maintains the equipment and performs janitorial duties.

 

What you’ll be contributing:

 

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines. 
  • Performs routine physical tests on concrete, aggregates, cement, masonry mortars, lime, and other materials. Maintains records and equipment, calculates test results, and maintains proficiency in testing techniques and procedures.
  • Conducts the necessary sample preparations of specimens by drying, crushing/grinding, sieving, coring, sawing, capping, or applying other designated procedures to the samples.
  • Receives and maintains records on laboratory samples and supplies. Maintains storage areas for samples and supplies.
  • Conducts lab maintenance as well as janitorial duties as assigned.
  • Assumes responsibility for proper use, care, and maintenance of instruments, equipment, and vehicles when assigned for use.
  • Gains certification in ACI Field Testing Technician - Grade I, Strength Testing Technician, and Aggregate Testing Technician. 
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

To succeed in this position, you will need:

 

  • Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. 
  • Miniminum High School or GED
  • Within one year, obtain or the ability to obtain ACI Strength Testing Technician ACI Aggregate Testing Technician Preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience of ACI concrete testing procedures preferred
  • Demonstrates a high commitment to quality
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures and guidelines involved in conducting physical tests.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office365 Suite and computer applications
