Job Summary

 

This is a skilled position requiring the employee to perform a variety of tasks pertaining to the purchasing department including but not limited to providing support with finding and purchasing products for a company to use or resell, locate suppliers, research goods, services and materials, process purchase orders and other office support functions.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

 

  • Support procurement activities in an office setting
  • Assist the development of budgets, schedules, and procurement plans to meet project goals and objectives
  • Prepare and support multiple tenders and contract packages for capital projects 
  • Monitor bid packages, engineering deliverables, and shipments of goods to meet the time requirements for project demands and resolve issues related to undelivered goods
  • Interface with business, accounting, legal, risk, tax, suppliers, and internal procurement departments
  • Evaluate suppliers by considering departments laid down criteria like price, quality, availability etc.
  • Interview vendors and visiting suppliers’ facilities to learn about products, services and pricing
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best deals on behalf of the company
  • Verify purchases and recommend alternatives for expensive or irrelevant products
  • Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management

 

Qualifications

 

  • Basic knowledge of procurement, including procurement execution, estimating, expediting, and site purchasing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to details

 

Education/Experience

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, supply chain management, construction management or related experience
  • Minimum of a year procurement experience or 4 years of combination of school and experience
  • Basic knowledge of truck terminology and equipment
