Position Overview

Performs accounting responsibilities associated with general ledger, inventories, equipment accounting, capital expenditure projects and tax activities. Uses independent judgment on a regular basis in performing job duties. Works under general supervision on responsibilities having specified standard policies and procedures. Refers all questions to supervisor.


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • GL – Prepares and performs data entry for month-end journal entries as required for Aggregates and Ready Mix companies.
  • GL – Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for specific GL accounts.
  • GL – Completes calculation of monthly royalty payments due and prepares journal entries and payment requests.
  • IN – Monitors inventories by locations and reconciles/adjusts as necessary.
  • EQ – Assist equipment managers with setting up new equipment numbers and running reports as requested.
  • EQ – Assist with loading and processing equipment meter readings and hourly usage of equipment management system.
  • Capex – Assist with setting up capital projects and input of asset transactions in Viewpoint system.
  • AP – Codes invoices with appropriate general ledger codes and forwards to AP team for processing.
  • Tax – Prepares monthly sales & use tax returns with reconciliation of accounts and filing/payment.
  • Tax – Assist with annual licensed vehicle registration and tags related to accounting requirements.
  • Performs other job-related responsibilities as needed.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. E ducation/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
  • Experience in Construction Products Manufacturing accounting a plus.


W ork Requirements

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.


K nowledge/Skill Requirements

  • General knowledge of accounting concepts, practices and procedures as specified by GAAP.
  • General knowledge of state and federal payroll and sales tax policies and guidelines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work with management.


  • Ability to operate office equipment including, but not limited to computers, copiers, ten key adding machine, printers, etc.
  • Proficiency in personal computers/word processing, spreadsheets/databases, and relevant software packages.
  • Experience with Viewpoint accounting system a plus.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
