Summary:

 

Responsible for developing the overall electrical infrastructure of new CAPEX projects. Direct, plan accordingly, and supervise electrical engineering contractors throughout the project. 


What you'll be contributing:

 

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Promote and follow all aspects of safety guidelines (CRH safety 16 live Savings Rules) making sure all the designs will be developed in accordance with the safety standard required, and participate in meetings as required.  Ensure that all electrical projects adhere to relevant safety standards, codes, and regulations. Conduct risk assessments and implement necessary measures to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Knowledge of Design, Configuration, and Installation of HV/MV Power Transformers, MV Distribution Transformers, MV Switchgear, MV Motors (Synchronous, Slip Ring, and induction), MV Cables, & MV Power Factor correction.
  • Knowledge of Design, Configuration, and Installation of LV Switchgear, LV Cables, LV Motors, & LV Power Factor correction.
  • Knowledge of North American & European Electrical Standards, UL, NEC, NEMA, NFPA, OSHA, MSHA, IEC, etc.
  • Write the scope work and main technical conditions and along with the procurement department manage the request for quotation up to the contract signature with the chosen Designer/Engineering companies, ensuring that all the scope of work is delivered in accordance with the contract obligation. 
  • Responsible for developing/revising the main contract technical documents, and responsible for project technical compliance to the scope, CRH standards, and local codes. Works with site engineering personnel and assures that assigned contractors for projects conform to the Scope of Work
  • Create, review, and modify electrical designs for a diverse range of projects, ensuring they meet technical specifications, safety regulations, and industry standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into feasible electrical solutions.
  • Oversee the creation of detailed technical documentation, including schematics, diagrams, reports, and user manuals, to facilitate seamless project handovers and support ongoing maintenance.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into multidisciplinary projects.
  • Provide technical support during project implementation and offer expertise in resolving electrical issues that may arise during testing, commissioning, or operation.
  • Assist with input and best practices with direction and RFI support during construction
  • Knowledge of the Design and implementation of control strategies based on plant manufacturing processes needs and company vision.  
  • Knowledge of distributed control systems (DCS), PLC-based control systems, analog and digital I/O systems, and hardware.
  • Knowledge of PLC and DCS programming. 
  • Utilize demonstrated best industry practices, techniques, and standards throughout the project execution. 

 

To succeed in this position you will need:

 

  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. in English required. 
  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering.
  • 10 or more years of proven experience in electrical power distribution design, development, and implementation of projects
  • Professional Engineer (PE) (Preferred)
  • Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects.  
  • Cement process knowledge
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard electrical design software and simulation tools (e.g. AutoCAD, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical components, circuits, power systems, and control systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to overcome technical challenges.
  • Solid project management skills, with a focus on meeting deadlines and delivering quality results
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate across departments and present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Travel as needed on the job site up to 50%
