Position Overview
The Commercial Sales intern will be exposed to the day-to-day functions in the outside sales, inside sales, sales administration, credit, transportation, and operations departments.  They will develop product knowledge by spending time in the field.  Work assignments and on-the-job experience will be relevant to the Intern’s course of study or technical skill.

  • Learn the products and services that we offer from the ground level, spending valuable time in many of the jobs necessary for Commercial Excellence.
  • In person training in our quarries, our quality control labs, and on job sites. 
  • Observe and study techniques and traits of experienced employees in the Commercial Department to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures and standards required for completing departmental duties of performance of the department.
  • Assist full time sales, administrative and logistics teams as necessary.
  • Learn the administrative requirements of the business through hands-on experience.
  • Help organize, track and store information about our current market conditions, sales trends, and projects.
  • Understand the current and future capabilities of our CRM system (Salesforce.com)
  • Learn and utilize all sales tools and applications as defined by the sales process (Salesforce, Material Quote, DF3, etc.).
  • Learn how to operate within TNY’s safety culture and how to manage with safety as a value.
  • Maintain professional demeanor in dealing with critical/confidential information; restricts discussions/ knowledge of activity to a “need to know” basis.
  • Additional duties as assigned or required.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

Education/Experience

  • Student at a college, university, or technical school.
