Position Overview

The worker performs routine fueling and light maintenance on company vehicles and equipment.  Service is primarily performed in the field at plants and jobsites, but is also performed in the company yard and shop.  The worker will drive a service vehicle to the location of the equipment and perform preventative maintenance work in a variety of locations, on uneven and slippery surfaces and in inclimate weather conditions.  The worker will open the vehicle hood and check all fluid levels, visually inspect belts and hoses for signs of wear, and inspect for other repairs that may be required. From below the vehicle (on mechanic creeper or lying on the ground) the worker will insure that a drain barrel is placed under the vehicle’s oil drain plug, drain oil from crankcase, refill the crankcase with required amount of oil and remove and replace the oil filter.  At various heights and positions, workers will lubricate equipment.  The worker will provide service to the radiator by draining, replacing, and/or replenishing coolant, use grease guns to lubricate the vehicle’s fittings/joints, and visually inspect the undercarriages of the vehicles for any problems. The worker fills the equipment with fuel and other vital fluids while documenting vehicle hours and mileage and records findings.

Essential Job Duties

Perform routine vehicles maintenance (change oil and filter, lubrication, coolant and fuel).
Analyzes malfunctions and report need for further diagnostics or repair to mechanics.
Operates and inspects vehicles equipment to diagnose defects and report findings.
Examines parts for damage or excessive wear
Perform record keeping of time and fluids used on the appropriate forms.
Perform general cleaning of work areas and maintenance areas.
Assist other maintenance department staff in performing the duties necessary to assure the efficiency of operations of vehicles.
Operate service truck or other equipment in the yard or on jobsite.
Ability to work day shift, night shift and weekends as needed to make repairs necessary in the field and to perform preventive maintenance practices necessary to increase service life of equipment.
Ability to be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes. Overtime work may be required.
Regular, on time attendance is an essential function of this position


Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent.
One year of truck driving experience preferred.
Experience around equipment and construction a plus.

Class-A CDL with hazmat endorsement preferred but will be required within 90 days of employment.

Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
