Position Summary

Customer oriented position as a scale operator weighing customer trucks and issuing proof of purchase.  Additional duties will include operation of an on-site water truck in addition to other pieces of plant equipment.  Performing physical labor on-site including assisting on plant maintenance and clean up as needed. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Weighing customer trucks and issuing proof of purchase
  • Collecting payments
  • Working with internal and external customers to ensure delivery
  • Operate Water Truck
  • Drive and maneuver equipment in a safe manner
  • Check fuel and other general maintenance on equipment
  • Adjust handwheels and depress pedals to control attachments, such as blades, buckets, scrapers, or brooms.
  • Start engines, move throttles, switches, or levers, or depress pedals to operate machines, such as bulldozers, trench excavators, road graders, or backhoes.
  • Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads and machinery within a busy environment.
  • Load and move dirt, rocks, debris or other materials using a variety of equipment i.e. sweeper, shovels or related equipment.
  • Maintain and clean tools, equipment, or materials to ensure items are in usable condition.
  • Engage in good work procedures and work standards that will ensure adequate performance and safety of all personnel.

  • Report to the assigned job site with appropriate personal protective equipment and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.


Education & Experience

  • 1-2 years’ experience within an aggregate/asphalt operations environment preferred.
  • Strong communication skills a plus.
  • Valid State Driver’s license.


Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other employees.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work independently. 
  • Have proficient computer skills with web-based applications, Excel, and MS Office products.


Physical Demand & Environment

Walking, occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and traveling over irregular terrain. Some tasks involve: prolonged periods of standing and/or exposure to noise or weather, good motor coordination, finger dexterity, and color discrimination.  All essential duties must be performed without posing a direct threat to their own, or others, health and safety, with or without the use of a reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration.
