Position Overview

 

This position is responsible for working with the Shop Manager on improving and maintaining in-house supply inventories (shop, welding, pipe fittings and oil supplies, etc.…). Position will be fully supportive of all operations duties and will strive to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of yard space, inventories, job supplies and overall yard management.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure employee driven safety culture is in place and effective.
  • Perform daily stocking activities and shop inventory.
  • Research equipment, repair parts, allowance, supply, and inventory problems.
  • Analyze inventory levels and product demand to determine reorder levels that ensure product availability and minimize inventory costs.
  • Maintaining stocking areas to accommodate adjusting volumes and storage requirements as driven by production activity.
  • Finding opportunities for improvement in stocking and material handling processes.
  • Collect and prepare for the shipment of items out of plant.
  • Sustain a valid driver’s license to operate company pickups for parts and materials delivery/pickup as necessary.
  • Continually work with Shop Manager to fully understand and implement true 5S culture throughout yard and shop area including a monthly checklist and scoring process to ensure sustainability.
  • File and maintain DOT, Registrations/Monthly Safety Reports.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Shop Manager.

 

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma required.
  • A minimum of 1 year inventory control experience including parts or service.
  • Experience and knowledge in Microsoft office (including word & excel spreadsheets), technology and internet preferred.
  • Experience in mining, construction or manufacturing preferred.
  • Experienced in parts, shop/maintenance, inventory, or service writing and all encouraged to apply.

  • Must have a current and valid driver’s license. CDL is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with Forklift preferred.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory and Order processing systems; uses job specific Maintenance computer systems.
  • May be subject to drug testing, and physical agilities testing.
