Summary 

This is a skilled position requiring the individuals to manage a variety of functions related to trucking operations. The individual must have a good understanding of construction, paving and material distribution business as they relate to transportation. Dispatch will be responsible for observing safety practices within the team and on the job site and will monitor the daily duties of operations within the department and will advise, correct and document as needed. Position reports to the Transportation Manager. 

 

 

Job Responsibilities

The following job responsibilities are to be used as a guideline.  The job responsibilities may be altered, deleted, or added at any time depending on the effectiveness to the department and the company.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Prepare & direct driver’s daily activities 
  • Build orders and check for accuracy. Correct material, load times, and pricing etc.
  • Answer office phones and direct calls to proper people/department.
  • Check/approve drivers daily time in Track it/Fleet Watcher for accuracy
  • Check Hired Haulers time for accuracy and approve
  • Coordinate requested time off with office staff/ manger and fill in as needed
  • Give 2 weeks’ notice of requested time off
  • Approve/Schedule drivers time off coordinating with trucking demand
  • Answer company phone/cell phone after hours
  • Assist in closing work orders
  • Create hot spot/geo fences on Track it/Fleet Watcher
  • Be a admin of Track It/Fleet Watcher add equipment/update drivers and equipment as needed
  • Assist in coaching on Motive
  • Assist with collecting/reporting 30/60/90-day documentation
  • Assist with hired haulers insurance compliance.
  • Contact hired haulers daily to secure trucking needs.
  • Willing to work after hours if call out changes and send revised schedule
  • Report hot spot times from track it and fleet watcher as needed
  • Maintain a positive attitude and take initiative to solve daily problems
  • Schedule delivery of product to job locations 
  • Take orders from internal and external customers and ship in a timely manner 
  • Must be customer service oriented, both internally and externally 
  • Check and review all orders assigned before they are shipped 
  • Coordinate deliveries with company truck drivers and external trucking companies to ensure timely delivery of materials to customers 
  • Maintain professional demeanor in stressful conditions 
  • Be able and willing to work flexible hours including overtime as job needs arise 
  • Reliable attendance is essential to performance in this role 
  • Responsible for a safe work environment for themselves and co-workers 
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

Requirements/Education/Experience 

  • High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent experience in related function 
  • At least 1 year of related experience 
  • Must be able to effectively multitask 
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook 
  • Excellent mathematical and communication skills

Physical Environment 

  • May require additional lifting of up to 25lbs 
  • Endure intermittent climbing, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, pushing and pulling
