Summary

 

The Procurement & Payable Clerk researches, negotiates, and ensures the availability and timely delivery of raw materials through direct interaction with vendors, communication with internal business partners and analysis of internal consumption data.  The procurement clerk is responsible for ordering parts and supplies for the manufacturing plant and yard.  The procurement clerk assists in maintaining accurate inventory of incoming materials and addresses any delivery issues to production.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare, edit, update, and receive purchase orders for raw materials
  • Daily raw material receipt of goods entered in the computer log
  • Maintains cost and product service information for current and future procurement
  • Follows rejected material process to ensure proper procedures are followed
  • Communicates cost changes to upper management
  • Has direct verbal and written communication with vendors/ suppliers
  • Answers inquiries relating to Raw Material purchasing, delivery time, lead time, etc.
  • Works with accounts payable department to assist with pricing or product disputes
  • Acts as liaison between departments and managers

Requirements

 

  • Basic terminology of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic terms and understanding of general ledger coding is necessary
  • Previous procurement experience preferred
  • Inventory control management skills
  • Excellent computer and math skills
  • Experience with Excel, Word, and Lawson preferred
  • P-Card experience preferred
