Position Overview:
- Preventative Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the routine Preventative Maintenance of the company heavy equipment, located at various job sites while reporting to the Equipment Manager.
Main Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. (Other duties may be assigned)
- Operate Company Service Truck safely and comply with all regulations.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments while maintaining a safe work environment and safe work habits.
- Perform necessary preventative maintenance work for each specific type of equipment and required service interval.
- Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds, and maintains equipment.
- Operates and inspect machines and equipment to diagnose defects.
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear.
- Directs workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.
- Report to Shop Management any additional work required to ensure proper operation and safety of equipment.
- Maintain records and account for all time, parts, and supplies used in servicing equipment.
- Participate in service training programs required for development of skills and knowledge.
- Assists other maintenance department staff in performing the duties necessary to assure the efficiency of operations of vehicles.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/ Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Minimum of two-year related experience.
- Valid Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record. Commercial class A or B is a plus.
- Pass Employment Pre-Screen drug test.
- A DOT Medical Certificate (Med Card) is required.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely around job sites and shop.
- Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts, varying shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to operate company vehicles and follow all motor vehicle state safety laws.
- Must supply own tools.
Work Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as per company policy.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, and Safety Vest.
- Compliance with all OSHA regulations.
- Adhere to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as set forth by the US DOT
- Must supply own tools.
Knowledge/ Skill Requirements:
- Knowledge of industrial and OTR equipment maintenance and operation.
- Stay current with technical changes.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks effectively with a focus on timeliness and responsiveness.
- Must be able to self-manage / self-motivate.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to describe work completed on routine reports and correspondence.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to:
- Ability to use full range of motion for back, arms, hands, and fingers.
- Able to use full range of motion for both legs, including climbing, twisting, squatting, and pushing with both legs.
- Able to use hand tools and lubrication systems on all equipment
- Able to climb onto or down from mobile construction equipment, typically 3-4 feet of climbing, for service and inspection.
- The employee is frequently required to lift or carry loads greater than 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and color vision.
- The employee is regularly required to talk or hear at moderate noise levels.
Work Environment:
While performing the functions of this job, the Preventative Maintenance Technician regularly works outside on job site or in a shop setting and is exposed to frequently changing temperatures, wet or humid conditions, noise, fumes/ other airborne particles. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to vibration.
The Preventative Maintenance Technician will be responsible for some, or all the functions and duties. These activities may require working hours in addition to the normal work schedule.
