Position Overview

The Trucking Foreman will be directly responsible for AGG asphalt dump truck drivers and trucks including the hiring process for dump truck drivers. They will support our mixer drivers and mixer fleet. They will also assist with new driver training, support our safety department, and help manage our hired hauler fleet in the field. The position is very mobile, the foreperson will spend most of their time on the road during the day. 


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Lead employee candidate interviews for open positions.
  • Assists with implementation and direction of the driver training programs, CAPs and Human Performance training/coaching.
  • Assists Internal Scheduler with review of daily schedules and truck demands.
  • Assist schedulers with onsite evaluations for deliveries.
  • Onsite assistance guiding and directing trucks.
  • Works with Safety Department to complete safety incident investigations and reporting as requested.
  • Lead safety meetings and tool box talks.
  • Assists with other projects as assigned.



To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft suite of tools including Excel, Word and Outlook.  Must be able to use the internet effectively.
  • Commercial Class “A” Driver’s License is required. Tanker and Air Brakes endorsements preferred.


Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays when necessary.


Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to tactfully communicate information, ideas and directions in a manner that others will understand.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of interview techniques and possess sound judgement when making decisions.
  • Demonstrate a hands-on, collaborative approach; work well in a team as well as independently.          
  • Demonstrate through knowledge of DOT regulations and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of Android based telematics is preferred.  


Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Able to communicate with others by email, telephone and in person.
  • Able to utilize a computer for word processing, email communication, and preparation of documents and presentations.
  • Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently walk and sit as well as occasionally required to stand and reach.
  • Ability to occasionally climb stairs, ladders, inclined walkways and access elevated platforms.


Work Environment

The noise level in the regular work environment is usually moderate.  While performing duties of this job in the plant environment, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
