Position Overview

Perform a wide range of physically demanding tasks involving operation of haul truck and stone plant operations laborer support.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Operation of haul truck requiring pre-shift and post shift inspection.
  • Identify, report and eliminate hazards while performing haul truck and/or plant laborer duties.
  • Perform daily maintenance tasks on Haul Truck and stone plant including but not limited to verifying fluid levels, grease bearings, housekeeping, report problems and maintain truck and plant for optimum performance.
  • Work with the quarry team to efficiently and effectively complete repairs and maintenance tasks when called upon.
  • Perform and complete daily housekeeping, removing spillage from around the conveyors, walkways and in the plant area when doing laborer duties.
  • Monitor plant performance when laborer by conducting daily plant inspections, reporting any plant issues to the lead person or Asst. Plant Manager.
  • Understand and follow all Tilcon Safety policies and procedures including but not limited to proper PPE, LOTO, Stop and Think card, risk assessments.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
  • Wears a hardhat, safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, gloves, hearing protection and respirator as needed.
  • Learn and implement MSHA standards and regulations to insure a safe operating environment is maintained at all times. Report any safety concerns to the Lead Man or asst. plant manager immediately.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience

  • High School or GED
  • Successful completion of MSHA Training
  • Task training on an as needed basis.

Work Requirements

  • Basic mechanical skills needed.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and company procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Must be flexible and able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature depending on priorities. Ability to multi-task is essential.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Ability to carry out simple oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Able to perform all duties without a direct threat of injury to the individual or others.
  • Demostrates safe, productive job performance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with and work well with other personnel.
  • Ability to read English.
  • Ability to carry out simple oral and written instructions and deal with simple problems.
