Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Assists in managing Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to ensure accuracy of data.
  • Partner with hiring managers and other HR personnel to assist with recruiting activities (reviewing job descriptions, posting jobs, answering candidate inquiries, reviewing and screening candidates, scheduling interviews, facilitating candidate communications, etc.)
  • Assist in external marketing of job opportunities (Facebook, Handshake, newspaper, billboards, maintaining company job boards, etc.)
  • Assist with new hire processes, including but not limited to: pre-employment screenings (Drug screens, FMCSA Clearinghouse, background checks, pre-work fitness for duty screens, MVR, etc.), onboarding and orientation, I9 administration, etc.
  • Proactively markets the organization as a great place to work; builds relationships with universities, schools and community organizations to develop and maintain recruiting pipelines for qualified candidates.
  • Attend local career fairs and community events.
  • Assists regional HR team in implementation of regional recruiting strategy plans.
  • Assist with HR administration including but not limited to: leave of absence coordination, employee file maintenance, data entry (new hires/re-hires, terminations, employee changes, training records, DOT information), answering employee inquiries,
  • Provides outstanding customer service and HR support to all employees to achieve compliance with all HR policies and procedures.
  • As proficiency is gained, may assist with internal HR/Recruiting training.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • HR/Recruiting experience preferred, but not required.


Certificates, License, Registrations

  • Valid driver’s license required.


Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Proficient with PC programs, and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). HRIS, and/or ATS software experience a plus but not required.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.


Work Requirements

  • Must pass pre-employment controlled substance testing including marijuana.

  • Proven self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and work ethic.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Full Time Schedule general work time is from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday thru Friday. The ability to work away from home when required. Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 25 lbs. Physical abilities test may be required.


Work Environment

  • Primarily in office setting.
  • Limited local travel within a 2-hour radius.
