Responsible for assisting designated machine operator(s), Maintenance and/ or Production team(s) in a variety of functions including, but not limited to, clean up, yard work, warehouse, quarry, production, maintenance, shipping and material handling.  Performs any combination of tasks as directed, responsible for prestart checks and regular maintenance on plant mobile equipment utilizing preventive and predictive measures.


Essential Duties:

  • Wears required P.P.E. and follows all plant safety policies.
  • Understands and follows Lockout and Tag-out procedures.
  • Safely operates equipment and completes mobile equipment checklists for equipment such as, skid steer loaders, haul trucks, vacuum trucks, sweeper, and forklifts and any other mobile equipment used and/or task trained within the plant. 
  • Clocks in at punch clock no earlier than 7 minutes prior to start time.
  • Returns brooms, shovels & come-alongs to their storage area at the end of the shift.
  • Makes routine mobile equipment checks for proper operation.
  • Makes appropriate equipment selections -- determining the kinds of tools and equipment needed to complete jobs.
  • Makes daily workplace inspections, pre-shift equipment and mobile equipment inspections.
  • Sweeps, shovels, picks up and rakes debris while cleaning plant.
  • Maintains adequate supply of tires in the tire hopper.
  • Picks up debris around the plant and empties trash containers on a daily basis.
  • Cleans up lunchroom (tables, microwave, fridge, floors, tables) on a daily basis.
  • May be required to work shifts to meet production needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • Ability to return to work during non-business hours in emergency situations and to perform work on a scheduled stand-by assignment.
  • Willingness to learn other plant job duties for vacancy replacement.
  • Ability to perform tasks that include walking, climbing equipment, working within confined spaces and lifting up to 50 lbs or more.


The physical demands described must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:


  • Performing General Physical Activities -- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Handling and Moving Objects -- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating things.
  • Controlling Machines and Processes -- Using control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate mobile equipment
  • Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings -- Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
  • Identifying Objects, Actions, and Events -- Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.


Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Static Strength -- The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
  • Trunk Strength -- The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing.
  • Explosive Strength -- The ability to use short bursts of muscle force to propel oneself (as in jumping or sprinting), or to throw an object.
  • Manual Dexterity -- The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Multilimb Coordination -- The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.
