Oldcastle Building Envelope has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join the Plant Engineering team at our Terrell facility.  We are currently expanding our operations with the addition of a new Anodizing Line, a new Extrusion operation, Paint Line and Warehouse.  We are looking for a motivated individual who wants the opportunity to make a positive impact on the operation and improve reliability throughout the plant.


Basic Function: The Project Engineer is responsible for developing proposed capital projects as well as working with existing operations to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices. This is done through improving equipment operations and procedures. This individual will also be positioned to provide technical support for the maintenance groups in both the Metal Processing and Fabrication operations in the Terrell facility. The individual will, in time, assist in support of CNC equipment at other OBE locations across the country.

Responsibilities

 

  • The project engineer is the link between plant engineering, production management, and production personnel driving process change, process improvement and establishing best practice
  • Providing support to management and production through troubleshooting equipment and safety departmental concerns
  • Develop and drive projects involving process control, hydraulics, pneumatics, programmable controllers, compressors, and construction
  • Collaborate with departments to determine causes production/safety issues; isolate causes and work with departments to eliminate those causes

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related experience required
  • Allen Bradley PLC and HMI programming and troubleshooting is a MUST
  • Strong computer skills - high level of proficiency with AutoCAD & MS Office – their related functions & application
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams
  • Basic understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams
  • Basic electrical skills AC/DC
  • Hands-on experience in problem-solving
  • Ability to provide technical support for machines and equipment on an as-needed basis
  • Organized, self-starter with the ability to handle numerous projects, prioritize workload and work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and conduct themselves professionally; excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think outside the box – innovative in daily responsibilities as well as project work
  • Ability to perform all other job duties as assigned
  • Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of this job
