Position Overview

The Corporate Controller assists in managing the corporate accounting team and is responsible for activities related to monthly accounting close, financial reporting, monthly reconciliations, and non-payroll tax issues. In additions.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Responsible for the management of the Corporate accounting, and Equipment departments providing overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these departments
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial reporting statements, the development of corporate budgets, and consolidation of group budgets and forecasts
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making. Evaluate the financial performance of the company and recommend improvements.
  • Manage activities related to monthly close
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the company's overall financial strategy, aligning financial goals with business objectives
  • Perform work in compliance with applicable policies and procedures, generally-accepted accounting principles and Sarbanes-Oxley

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
  • Strict adherence to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. 
  • Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Shelly Company employees. Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies, procedures, and applicable laws. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Willingness to develop subordinates’ technical and leadership skills and make recommendations for new job opportunities when appropriate.
  • Effective management of employee performance through coaching, feedback (written and verbal), rewards, and discipline when necessary.
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to get work done through others using effective delegation, scheduling, and time management practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance required
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience and training in general finance and accounting areas
  • Management experience is preferred
  • Proficient with Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Must have excellent communication skills including written and verbal
  • Hyperion experience is preferred
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative
