Position Overview
The Division Procurement Director provides strategic leadership for procurement across the Northeast Division, driving value creation, cost optimization, and supplier excellence. This role leads the execution of a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with company culture, business objectives, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Partnering with our operating company leaders, Division leadership, and Americas Materials, the Director leverages scale, capabilities, and best practices to improve supply quality, service, availability, and overall cost management. Responsible for managing $1 billion in annual spend across seven operating companies, this leader delivers financial results through disciplined sourcing, strong supplier relationships, and the development of a high‑performing procurement team.

 

The role requires deep industry knowledge, strong multitasking and project management skills, and the ability to build influential partnerships with company presidents across the Division.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Establish and execute a Division Procurement strategy aligned with company objectives and CRH procurement standards 

  • Provide leadership for all external addressable spend within the Division 

  • Partner with OpCo leaders to embed professional procurement practices and systems across the organization 

  • Act as a strategic advisor to the team on sourcing, risk, and cost management 

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies that drive measurable cost savings and increased value 

  • Drive adoption of bests practices and continuous improvement across procurement operations 

  • Ensure governance, compliance, and risk management within sourcing activities 

  • Partner closely with CRH Procurement Leadership to execute strategies 

  • Directs efforts to negotiate, contract and manage performance with key suppliers to ensure that all service levels are achieved and that continuous improvement efforts are implemented 

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of sourcing category managers and specialists 

  • Build a high-performing culture focused on accountably, results, and professional growth 

  • Set clear expectations and provide regular performance feedback 

  • Partner with Finance to ensure procurement savings are accurately forecasted, tracked, and realized in financial results 

  • Own reporting of procurement performance, savings, and value creation at the Division level 

  • Lead supplier risk assessment and mitigation strategies, including supply continuity, capacity, financial health, and macro level risk (i.e.tariff) 

  • Support business continuity planning through resilient sourcing strategies 

  • Lead change management efforts to drive adoption of procurement standards and practices across decentralized operating companies 

  • Lead procurement to implement new ERP system SAP 

  • Lead Procure to Pay Process improvements and implement standard operating procedures across the Division. 

  • Support North America Procurement management team with strategy alliance and direction 

  • Align with business leadership to support CAPEX projects and development 

 

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE 

  • Proven record of procurement and cost management across goods and services and understanding of the entire procurement cycle 

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to maintain a wide range of multi-site relationships at all levels of the organization and the ability to implement change 

  • Demonstrated ability to get positive results through influence, persuasion, leadership, presentations, training and group facilitation skills 

  • Demonstrable record of successfully defining and implementing leading edge procurement strategies – including category management development across multiple business entities / locations 

  • Extensive proven experience in managing suppliers and supplier relationships – across both very large scale and smaller scale suppliers 

  • Ability to think strategically with strong analytical and problem solving skills 

  • High ethical standards 

  • Detailed knowledge of the use of technology as an enabler for enhancing procurement processes and in particular e-Sourcing and source to contract 

  • Demonstrated experience of leading key negotiations, drafting and implementation of contracts and ongoing supplier management to deliver sustained benefits. 

  • Strong business, commercial and financial acumen - supported by a pragmatic approach and not afraid to get in to the detail when required 

  • Able to build and maintain relationships, whilst operating and influencing successfully at all levels of an organization, across all business functions and to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with sufficient gravitas and credibility to be able to influence key stakeholders at all levels (both internal and external), to drive the strategic procurement agenda forward 

  • Motivates and empowers others and has exemplary coaching and mentoring skills 

  • Strong and effective team player – both within the Procurement function and across functions 

  • Strong planning and organizing skills 

  • Experience with Procurement and Payables shared service centers. Standing up a procurement shared service center experience preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS 

  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Work Experience:  10+ year’s experience of strategic sourcing / category management experience 

Exposure to the heavy industrial, building materials, mining or construction sectors preferred 

In depth knowledge and understanding of the role of an effective procurement function and best practices together with the required supporting processes and tools – at both the strategic and operational level 

Considerable senior management experience gained within a procurement and /or supply chain function – having operated both strategically and operationally 

 

Travel Requirements:  ​Various locations.  Expectation is that the Director is frequently visiting and meeting with the seven OpCo’s. Will be required to attend out of state meetings on a regular basis. Expect 30%-40% travel.​

 

Additional Requirements: 

Computer Skills:  ​Technologically savvy, with a full understanding and fluency in computer applications including word processing, email, internet searches, database and presentation software (such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat Pro)​
