Position Overview 

Drive and operate dump trucks equipped with dump bodies to transport and dump loose materials such as sand, gravel, and stone. May also operate and work with other various types of equipment. May be required to load truck through operation of a mechanical loader. 

 

Roles & Responsibilities  

(Essential Duties and Functions) 

  • Pull levers and turn cranks to tilt body and dump contents. 

  • Move hand and foot controls to move truck forward or backward to loosen and dump material adhering to the body. 

  • Perform daily pre-shift procedures. 

  • Perform safety inspections of work area and plant equipment. 

  • Communicate with and cooperate with other personnel. 

  • Wears a hardhat, safety glasses, steel-toes footwear, gloves, hearing protection and respirator as needed. 

  • Regular and timely attendance is required. 

 

Qualifications 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

 

Education/Experience 

Required 

  • High School or GED 

  • Successful completion of MSHA/OSHA Training 

  • Task training on an as needed basis 

 

Work Requirements 

  • Demonstrate the ability to perform all work safely. 

  • Learn and implement MSHA standards and regulations to ensure a safe operating environment is maintained at all times. Report any safety concerns to the foreman immediately. 

  • Perform work to comply with all environmental regulations. 

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements 

  • Thorough operational knowledge and skills of specific equipment to be operated. 

  • Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently. 

  • Ability to service the assigned equipment to ensure maximum operating efficiency. 

  • Ability to carry out simple oral and written instructions.

This job will require both office work and field work.
