The Finch West LRT is a light rail transit project that will bring 11 kilometers of modern, reliable rapid transit to northwest Toronto. As a key partner in the Finch West LRT project, Dufferin Construction, a division of CRH Canada is looking for a Subcontracts Manager to join the team!   We are one of the largest heavy civil engineering contractors in the industry, employing over 1000 people. We have built a solid reputation for market excellence, through drawing on a rich history and a strong heritage of quality, stability and innovative leadership in the marketplace. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Writing notices and letters;
  • Running meetings;
  • Tracking progress,
  • Facilitating and reviewing changes;
  • Coordinating with various departments internally (i.e. procurement, construction, quality, environment, safety, etc.)
  • In close collaboration with the segment managers, actively participate in the negotiation and issuance of change orders, subcontracts and subcontract amendments following review and approval of by the project management team;
  • Expedite subcontractor deliverables including progress reports and drawings and documentation submissions;
  • Lead the review of any claims received from subcontractors, suppliers and prepare and issue an appropriate response for project management approval;
  • Prepare and issue any potential claims to be issued to subcontractors and suppliers;
  • Participate in site progress meetings with subcontractors and suppliers as required;


  • Post-secondary degree and equivalent experience;
  • Strong work ethic, positive ready to learn attitude, attention to detail;
  • Exceptional critical, assertive, and analytical skills;
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office and Aconex;
  • Ability to work under pressure and effective multitasking;
  • Dedicated team player with excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Strong reporting skills and the ability to maintain a firm grasp of the day-to-day occurrences of all construction segments are critical;
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment; and
  • Experience working within a construction environment and knowledge of construction processes by which the works will be undertaken is an asset.
