The Area Accountant is responsible for the performance and supervision of plant level accounting activities for two manufacturing plants in the Atlanta Metro Area. The position will work closely with the local plant leadership and corporate accounting concerning a multitude of accounting and financial tasks in accordance with company policy. The role will report to the Area Controller and supervise up to two accounting clerks. 


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Responsible for day-to-day accounting duties
  • Sales order invoicing & credit processing
  • Prepare, run, and review reports and other analysis for business management
  • Receive and reconcile intercompany transfers
  • Support accounts payable and receivable activity
  • Month and year-end closings
  • Support audits and other external reviews
  • Backup purchase order receiving
  • Coordinate inventory counts with plant management
  • Maintain accounting/financial files and records
  • Provide support to internal and external customers with respect to billing inquiries
  • Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance
  • Supervision of Accounting Clerk
  • Other duties, projects, and backup as assigned

  • Ability to lead, supervise, and motivate staff
  • Solid understanding of general and cost accounting principles
  • Understands inventory control and data workflows
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment, multi-task, and prioritize to meet deadlines by thorough problem solving
  • Strong organizational skills; must be detail oriented and accurate
  • Must be customer service oriented, both internally and external
  • Team player
  • Positive attitude and outlook on work, business relationships, goals/objectives and expected performance
  • Self-starter, dependable on attendance and work schedules
  • Willingness to continue education, and grow personally and professionally




  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in an accounting role preferred
  • Operations/Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Inventory experience preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred


Job Skills and Education


  • Minimum of Bachelors degree, preferably in Accounting/Business, or an equivalent combination of experience, training and education
