Industrial Maintenance Technician

Job Summary

 This is not a building maintenance position. This facility manufactures concrete block products. The position requires the maintenance of the plant facility including the maintenance and repair of production equipment.  Primary duties are to support operations by maintaining the equipment and facility with an emphasis on safety at an optimal level with the help of your team.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities 

• The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge and experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical/mechanical systems to include but not limited to chains, sprockets and gear boxes
• Install, adjust and repair production equipment
• Weld (ARC, MIG) and use cutting torch
• Repair and replace gears, drives, bearings, belts, chains, shafts, etc.
• Operate a variety of hand/power tools to repair, grease, weld, cut and change parts as assigned
• Electrical work including PLC troubleshooting, motor controls and circuit testing
• Repair/troubleshoot hydraulic cylinders, flow problems, solenoids and pumps
• Observe equipment and listen to sounds to determine proper functioning or identify caused of trouble
• Rebuild production molds
• Perform general repairs to plant structure
• Keep work area in a clean and orderly condition
• Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
• Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Preferences 

• Proficient troubleshooting skills
• Knowledge of industrial production maintenance programs is a plus
• Universal maintenance experience (well rounded)
• Strong on motor control and variable frequency drives (VFD's)
• Knowledge of control circuit wiring 24VDC is a plus
• Electrical certification preferred

Education / Experience Requirements

• High school diploma / equivalent or equivalent in training, education or experience
• Experience with industrial plant maintenance 
• Technical or vocational school certification or equivalent in training or experience
• Ability to read and interpret instructions and operations manuals and follow step by step instructions
• Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
• Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulics, mechanics, electricity, welding and pipe fitting, or related fields

Physical Requirements 

• While performing the duties of this job the employee will be required to frequently stand on their feet for extended periods of time
• Lift tools, machinery parts and other objects weighing up to 80lbs each, assistance available if needed
• Endure intermittent bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, stooping and reaching
• Standing for extended periods of time
• Able to work under extreme conditions such as hot or cold temperatures, noise, dust, and dirt
• Able to work a flexible schedule
