Position Overview 

CRH Group Corporate Events are looking for an Events Manager. This amazing opportunity will require you to be proactive and have exceptional attention to detail. You should be highly organised with a proven ability to effectively prioritise and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.  If successful, you will be working across a broad spectrum of projects in terms of scale, format and location, with the opportunity for extensive international travel and global relationship building.


The exciting role is highly detail-orientated, involving project management and practical execution of events from inception to reconciliation. You’ll be working with events team colleagues, functional leadership, senior management and third-party vendors to deliver consistently exceptional events.


The role covers the management of all aspects of event planning and delivery including, but not limited to: venue sourcing and management, event design, theming and production, integration of remote technology for hybrid and/or virtual projects, food and beverage management, transportation and logistics, digital aspects e.g. online registration, CRH events app, budgeting and cost control and liaison with business colleagues regarding content.



Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Combining office-based planning and on-site management and execution, you will:

  • Act as key liaison between the events team and executive leadership and stakeholders
  • Manage and meet internal and external deadlines to ensure adherence to budget and smooth delivery of the project
  • Conduct research (venues, DMC’s, production agencies etc.), develop local networks of suppliers and negotiate contracts to final approval
  • Manage all third-party suppliers to ensure a coordinated and efficient approach to each event programme
  • Conduct frequent site visits, with extensive international travel required
  • Create, maintain and communicate detailed project management documentation to ensure excellence in execution
  • Develop and manage all aspects of budgeting for events undertaken, from initial cost estimate through to final project reconciliation
  • Establish event design, production and IT requirements and determine the most appropriate means of delivery (i.e. in-house AV supplier, production company etc.)
  • Have an awareness and appreciation of planning for health and safety and ensure relevant parties deliver on their responsibilities in this area
  • Manage online registration tools and related CRH Events app
  • Create and manage transportation and rooming manifests
  • Devise and manage food and beverage arrangements



Key Functional Competencies and Relevant Experience

To be successful in this role and add value to the business, the successful candidate will be highly motivated and comfortable working in a demanding and fast-paced environment as well as being an extremely organised and detail-orientated and results driven. You will have a significant focus on execution excellence, be commercially aware and be able to work within budget and proactively manage the financial aspects of each event. You should be able to use your initiative when approaching challenges calmly and logically and feel at ease working as part of a team, often cross-disciplinary due to your well-developed people skills.


Additionally, you’re able to manage your time efficiently in order to execute multiple events at once or in rapid succession. As a professional events manager, you’ll be confident in your role and act as an example to others working on their projects. Due to the nature of the role you should be highly mobile and available for extensive international travel (once travel restrictions are lifted). As with all events you’ll be available as necessary on the lead-up to events and prepared to work anti-social hours from time-to-time when projects demand.


Your Education and Experience:

To be successful in this role you should have extensive relevant experience in delivering international corporate events, particularly in logistics roles including hotel management, food and beverage, transportation and delegate management. You should also be highly proficient in Microsoft Office and related collaboration tools.

It would be great if you had a formal qualification in event management, project management or a similar field, or qualified by experience. Additional experience in Cvent or other similar online registration tools would be advantageous.  Proficiency in at least one other language, in addition to English is also beneficial.
