Job Description Summary
The Construction Project Engineer is responsible for schedule preparation, pre-planning and resource forecasting for construction and other technical activities relating to the project. Ensures quality of work, and compliance with all governing agency requirements, and maintains project quantity and correspondence records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with job-related paperwork up to and including preparation of timecards, equipment hours, and production reports.
• Track all job costs and progress.
• Assist with the planning and scheduling of daily/weekly yields for construction materials, equipment, and labor.
• Assist with the scheduling of personnel, equipment, and trucks.
• Assist with the coordination of daily operations with customer/owner’s representatives.
• Assist with ensuring all operations are in full compliance with Federal/State/Local Regulations including Environmental, OSHA/VOSHA, MUTCD, and DOT Regulations.
• Capable of measuring pay quantities and filling out inField and production reports
• Maintain positive relations with the customer/owner's representatives.
• Assist in generating bids.
• Adhere to any and all state and federal regulations, if applicable, as set forth by the US Department of Transportation (DOT), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
• Compile cost estimates for new work to be submitted to the Owner.
• Support with admin-related tasks including upcoming bids, site visits, and delivery of bids.

Requirements

·         Basic computer skills

·         Strong problem solving and communication skills

·         Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet aggressive deadlines

·         Ensure a safe work environment by overseeing compliance with all safety policies

·         Ability to adhere to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition while on job site

·         Valid driver’s license and transportation

·         Must pass a drug screen and background check before being employed by Callanan Industries, Inc.

Preferences

·         Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel

·         Prior experience in the construction field

Education/Experience

• Associate degree and/or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a technical school;
• Construction background is preferred.
