Position Summary

 

The Construction Superintendent Trainee is an entry-level leadership development position designed to prepare employees for future Construction Superintendent roles. The trainee will learn all aspects of field operations and work closely with Superintendents, Project Managers and Forepersons to develop the skills necessary to successfully manage construction projects.

 

 

Essential Duties and Functions

 

  • Promote and maintain a culture of safety on all job sites.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable safety standards.
  • Participate in safety meetings, inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Participate in the bidding process.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects.
  • Support project managers, superintendents, and field supervisors in daily operations.
  • Assist in tracking production quantities, labor utilization, and equipment performance.
  • Learn project scheduling processes and scheduling software applications.
  • Assist in coordinating manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
  • Support project teams in tracking project milestones and deadlines.
  • Assist with budgeting, cost tracking, and project financial reporting.
  • Review production reports, change orders, and project costs.
  • Assist in ensuring work meets project specifications, plans, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with equipment scheduling, maintenance coordination, and productivity tracking.
  • Build leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Lead assigned projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with field personnel, project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and customers.
  • Participate in mentoring and professional development opportunities.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Education

  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Business Management, or a related field.

 

Experience

  • Internship, co-op, or related construction experience.
  • Experience in leadership roles through work, military service, athletics, student organizations, or community involvement.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership potential and desire to pursue a management career.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to learn technical and operational processes quickly.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Computer proficiency and willingness to learn business and operational systems.

 

 

Compensation & Company Benefits

 

  • Pay range is $65,000-$75,000
