Position Overview

The Payroll Manager will be responsible for all payroll-related processing for approximately 650 employees in TN/GA/NC/SC.   The manager will supervise the payroll team and work closely with Human Resources Manager and HR team to ensure timely and accurate processing of all payroll processes.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Ensure accurate and complete weekly payroll processing including entering and maintaining employee information, hours and /or earning for payrolls, auditing the information entered and distributing payments to employees.
  • Communicate effectively to ensure all payroll processes are being completed in a timely manner
  • A good working knowledge of federal and state tax compliance regulations and ability to work with all authoritative bodies
  • Review quarterly/annual wage and tax reports for accuracy, correcting employee wages and /or taxes or adjustments on payroll
  • Ensure that all Certified payrolls are submitted accurately and kept current
  • Provide payroll reports on a weekly basis
  • Resolve and document for audit all payroll discrepancies and irregularities
  • Prepare and process garnishment orders to federal, state or local jurisdictions for wage attachments and child support
  • Ensure garnishments are applied and completed in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations to ensure the deductions are applied appropriately
  • Prepare, send and file earnings disclosures; prepare answers to writs of garnishment
  • Resolve escalated/complex issues that require managerial intervention or involve other process areas
  • Respond to inquiries from employees and vendors regarding garnishments and levies
  • Support audits as necessary – internal/external/corporate
  • Ensure benefit deductions are correct/updated
  • Ensure unemployment charges/payments are accurate and current
  • Work closely with the Controller ensuring all processes are complete and current for audit requirements
  • Attendance required according to APAC-Atlantic, Inc. Attendance Policy to ensure office operations function at normal efficiency level.
  • Attitude/cooperation: always maintaining courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers and public.  Must adhere to Code of Business Conduct
  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • High school graduate and Bachelors degree preferred
  • Previous related experience in payroll processes required
  • Strong computer and data entry skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment

 

 

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Physical ability to sit, mobilize fingers and hands in such a way that keypunching and calculator can be utilized.
  • Bending and squatting may be required as filing is a necessity.
  • Hearing and speaking in such a way that communication is applied via one on one, via phone, via email.
  • Sight is required to read production and payroll reports, contracts and other accounting materials in tangible form.
  •  Other physical demands that may be utilized but may be modified to fit individual needs: twisting, reaching, standing, walking.
