Position Overview
CRH Europe IT is building out its Datacenter and Cloud team, and requires a driven, knowledgeable leader in the Public Cloud space to drive our strategy and manage our Cloud services as we modernize and innovate in this space. This role is a senior leadership role within CRH Europe IT, and will be influential in our overall IT strategy, as well as our cloud-native workload capability.
You are an experienced leader in the Public Cloud space, with a track record in applying DevSecOps methodologies and in working with major public clouds (Azure, AWS preferred). You will also have experience in managing outsourced partners closely, through day-to-day expectation-setting well as SoW formulation and overall vendor strategy. Your influence will be crucial in ensuring CRH and our operating companies use best practices and tooling for determining service levels, building cloud capabilities, and ensuring industry-leading reliability. 
You will: 
1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze business requirements and deliver technical solutions that leverage the capabilities of cloud & datacenter associated products. 
2. Establish the technology roadmap, aiming to remove technical debt by creating new future proof standard services, leveraging our cloud platform as much as possible. 
3. Be the go-to person and thought leader for any Cloud and datacenter services managed by CRH Europe, providing guidance and support to stakeholders, including but not limited to Architects, functional teams and IT teams across Europe.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
You are leading the Datacenter and Cloud operations on our Hybrid Cloud (On-Prem & Azure, AWS) landscape by managing efficiently your team and our vendors in charge of: 

  • Driving the efficiency of the infrastructure relating to the Cloud & Data Centre function in the business, using a data-driven approach in order to achieve optimal outputs. 
  • Selecting and managing  the vendor approach and service improvements and outputs of these vendors. 
  • Ensuring that vendors are aligned and prioritized to meet the SLOs and SLAs required by the business. 
  • Developing strategy, adopting best practices, and executing to deliver highly resilient and high-performing offerings for the Cloud & Data Centre function. 
  • Determining the best solutions, tools and methodology to ensure appropriate controls, protection, visibility, and efficiencies exist in the vendor offerings. 
  • Consistently improving performance, reliability, and control costs over time based on operational metrics. 
  • Delivering and supporting projects of all sizes and ensure that these projects meet the requirements as set by the Security operations team. 
  • Maintain & update the roadmap for technology and vendor approach in the Cloud & Data Centre function.

Key Functional Competencies 
You possess the following:

  • Language: English (Fluent) Desirable: Second European Language (preferred)
  • Deep understanding of Cloud technology, primarily Azure – AWS is a plus
  • Deep understanding of Infrastructure as a Service, DevSecOps toolset and methodologies
  • Large Knowledge of On Premise Datacenter Technology (Vmware, Operating systems, Databases, Storage & Backup)
  • The ability to translate business requirements into viable technical solutions
  • Analytical & driving results: assist in developing and deploying key governance, processes & procedures
  • Knowledge of Service Management principles (Preferred)
  • Other competencies: Pro-active / enthusiastic / good interpersonal skills

 

Experience / Education
You are/have:

  • Minimum of ten years’ experience managing complex Datacenter and Cloud environment, ideally on the various technologies such as (but not limited to) virtualization, operating systems, databases, backup & archiving, VDI
  • Proven successful transition of workload from On Prem Datacenter to the cloud leveraging as much a possible serverless and cloud native technology to transform applications
  • Minimum five years’ experience in management of Azure Environment
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT related discipline
  • Working in cross-functional teams on a European or Global level
