Position Overview 

CRH is looking for a Senior Security Operations Manager. The Senior Security Operations Manager is fundamental in ensuring to minimise the risk to CRH, both monetary and reputational, due to potential cyber security threats. By delivering a proactive, risk-based approach to our detective and preventative capabilities. And is aligned with GIS (Group Information Security), Industry Best Practices and CRH’s Cyber Risk appetite.

In this strategic and tactical position, the person will take ownership of all security matters for the Security Operations Team and will initially be responsible for managing three team members along with vendors and contractors as required

In this role the person will engage with many stakeholders from various levels. Examples internally are GIS, ITLT, OpCo (Operating Companies) business and IT managers and Europe IT Tower Leads. Externally the person will manage their engagements with managed service providers and resourcing vendors.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

In this role you will:

• Lead and motivate other team members of Security Operations Team,
• Act as an escalation point for members for Information Security engineering team
• Support every team member with their career development
• Provide Vulnerability assessment services including scanner installation and troubleshooting as required
• Development and Administration of a group-wide integrated email security solution
• Engage with business stakeholders to understand business requirements; gathering and facilitating the convergence of business, technical and security requirements; liaising with IT to align the environment with existing and future requirements
• Develop and implement solutions to enhance overall security posture of CRH companies
• Manage change projects to completion within budget (money, time, resources), on schedule and with adherence to CRH Change Management Processes
• Support incident management as required
• Perform third party or key supply chain risk assessments, oversee or implement remediation and mitigation strategies
• Carry out security testing and evaluation of proposed security solutions and controls, report findings and provide recommendations for improvements
• Research industry standards and technology developments to ensure that security techniques and mechanisms in use remain current and can support evolving business requirements
• Document services and processes as required using ITIL and BPMN
• Support Splunk deployments and facilitate dashboard creation as required
• Travel expectations: Limited travel (10-20%) is expected in this role

Key Functional Competencies and Relevant Experience

You have/are capable of:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills and be capable of understanding, documenting, communicating, and presenting technical issues in a non-technical manner to audiences with varying degrees of technical expertise
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities with the ability to “join the dots” and see the bigger picture
• Being results-oriented and self-motivated
• Working closely with internal leadership teams in a collaborative environment to ensure that security awareness and issues are communicated effectively
• Working closely with team members to understand their needs and always promote staff retention

Your Education and Experience

You have/are:

• Minimum 10 years ITIL-based Service Management in a business-to-business environment  
• At least 5 years of experience in infrastructure or application-level vulnerability testing
• At least 5 years of system, network and/or application security experience
• Fluency in English
• Knowledge of Mitre ATT&CK and NIST CSF
• Third Level qualification (or equivalent) in information technology, Information Security or Engineering
• CISSP, CCSP, GCIH, GIAC (SANS), CCNP, Splunk certificates and / or other relevant security/Network type engineering certifications
• Experience or exposure to Network equipment such as Firewalls. switches, routers
• Experience of log collection, analysis, and correlation toolsets. Including data extraction and manipulation for reporting and investigation purposes
• Experience of deploying and configuring perimeter defence mechanisms and facilities
• Experience of modern networking and web related protocols (e.g., TCP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP response codes & methods, REST API basics, etc.)
• Experience of hardening and applying modern security standards across servers, workstations, SaaS-based solutions, and network equipment
• Experience of applying cryptographic controls (public/private keys, TLS certificates, PKI, etc.)
• Experience of administering enterprise endpoint and network security tools and platforms across enterprise networks consisting of Windows, OSX, and Linux endpoints.
• Administration of Networking, and/or Linux & Windows environments would be advantageous
• Experience with O365 administration would be beneficial
