CRH are currently recruiting for a Statutory Accountant to join their Reporting & Analysis team in Amsterdam! The CARA team acts as a financial service centre for the Amsterdam Head Office divisions and functions. We play a central role within the wider finance organisation and are responsible for the AP/AR processes, VAT compliance, payroll review, financial reporting for our legal holding entities on a global scale, and provide parent company services and funding for CRH group companies all over the world. We work in close collaboration with the CRH Legal, Tax, Risk & Compliance and Group Treasury teams. As the Statutory Accounting & Reporting specialist in our team, you will oversee the financial cycles of several holding companies, be responsible for GL accounting, monthly, interim and year-end group reporting through to local statutory reporting. You have a proven ability and willingness to get involved in detailed financial tasks. You will contribute extensively to bring the audit of the annual accounts of CRH Domestic Group BV, CRH Nederland BV, and CRH Funding BV (PIE) to completion, with a strong focus on high reporting quality, understanding the numbers and efficiency. In addition you are responsible for the financial analysis, budget development and monitoring, cost allocation and forecasts of the other holding entities. The candidate is a skilled financial professional with an understanding of financial consolidation processes, corporate accounting, compliance and affinity for IFRS.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Completion of monthly general ledger accounting
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts, forecasts and annual budget including reporting to Group
  • Preparation of semi-annual financial accounts to Group and annual statutory accounts
  • Assist Statutory Reporting Lead in preparing consolidated annual accounts
  • Assist Statutory Reporting Lead in preparing consolidated statistical reporting, CBS
  • Focus on analytical review to provide meaningful monthly analysis of costs and other information to budget holders and senior stakeholders 
  • Managing the flow of information and maintaining a close liaison with the Group Treasury, Legal and Tax functions, ensuring that both routine and significant transactions are accounted for appropriately 
  • Maintaining an appropriate control environment 
  • Liaising with internal and external auditors for statutory and SOX audits
  • Manage processes that are of strategic importance to the group
  • Continuous process improvement to enhance information needs

 

Key Functional Competencies
You possess the following:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Economics, Finance or Accounting (preferably qualified accountant CA/CPA/RA)
  • 3+ years of related accounting experience, preferably in an international setting, Big 4 is a plus
  • A solid understanding of accounting practices and principles, especially IFRS
  • Strong Excel skills, and analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to build strong relationships and collaborate across different cultures
  • Ability and willingness to get involved in detailed financial tasks
  • Excellent time management skills in order to meet strict deadlines and manage priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills, Dutch is a plus
