Position Overview
CRH is looking for a M&A Transaction Manager. The role will report into the VP Development of the Central Development Team, which is the central function for development in Strategy & Development. The M&A Transaction Manager will be responsible for carrying out M&A activities and projects across Europe in conjunction with CRH Europe SVP & VPs, Platform/Cluster SVPs, and the broader S&D function as appropriate. The location of this role is flexible in Europe however it is a requirement for significant time to be spent in Dublin.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
In this role, you will:

  • Focus on Mergers, Acquisitions and Disposals
  • Lead small/medium sized deals and end-to-end mergers, acquisitions and disposals
  • Support S&D cluster VP’s in identifying M&A targets and origination process
  • Lead and execute on a number of key divestment projects
  • Lead the M&A integration process including planning, integration, execution, business case delivery and post-acquisition review
  • Be able to support the development of the Europe M&A team through the coaching and mentoring of the Analysts/Executives
  • Monitor pipeline of work and resource allocation
  • Process management and centralisation of key metrics and data relating to deal flow and pipeline, active deals, short, medium and long term targets, to enable reporting up to senior management as required


Key Functional Competencies 
You possess the following:

  • Strong preference for prior experience working in Europe with significant exposure to acquisition and divestment processes 
  • Team player with ability to contribute both individually and as part of a team
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative; comfortable working in a demanding fast- paced environment. Detail and process orientated is essential to this role.
  • Third level degree in finance/business related subject
  • Postgraduate qualifications in a related field
  • Strong communication skills and comfortable liaising with senior management
  • Knowledge of building materials industry a significant advantage
  • Recognised as a strong leader with excellent collaboration capabilities and the ability to develop enduring relationships
  • Deep business and industry knowledge, with an understanding of the value drivers of the business 
  • Strong analytical, business, and financial acumen with an appreciation of the implications of decisions and their impact
  • Agile and flexible, resilient with the ability to manage multiple competing demands
  • Ability to travel as frequently as may be required

 

Experience / Education
You are/have:

  • Third level degree, post graduate qualification or equivalent in Business, Finance, Engineering, Science or Economics
  • 5 years’ + experience working in a relevant role in M&A
  • Good systems capabilities and/or interest in technology
  • Very high proficiency in using Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
  • Experience working in other countries/cultures is a bonus.
