Job Summary

 

The Facilities Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and fully operational workplace environment. This role supports daily housekeeping, sanitation, and minor facility upkeep to ensure all office and common areas are presentable, functional, and compliant with health and safety standards.  This position plays a key role in promoting workplace safety, efficiency, and overall employee experience through consistent cleaning practices, organization, and proactive maintenance support.

This is an onsite role based in Atlanta, GA. 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Perform daily cleaning of office spaces, lobbies, restrooms, kitchens, and common areas.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize surfaces and high-touch areas.
  • Empty trash and recycling receptacles and ensure proper waste disposal.
  • Maintain floors, carpets, and hard surfaces in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Clean spills promptly and ensure workspaces remain safe and hazard-free.
  • Ensure work areas, hallways, and emergency access points remain clear of debris and obstructions.
  • Support general housekeeping standards to keep the workplace neat, organized, and professional.
  • Restock cleaning and sanitation supplies (paper products, soap, etc.).
  • Assist with basic room resets, including furniture adjustments and common-area tidiness.
  • Identify and report maintenance issues such as lighting, plumbing, or equipment concerns.
  • Assist with minor facility tasks (bulb replacement, basic repairs, furniture movement).
  • Support setup and cleanup for meetings and events when needed.
  • Coordinate with facilities staff or vendors for repairs and deep cleaning needs.
  • Follow all workplace health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely, in accordance with guidelines and protective requirements.
  • Maintain clean and safe storage of tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Support housekeeping inspections and address any identified deficiencies.
  • Ensure aisles, exits, and emergency equipment areas remain unobstructed at all times.
  • Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, and other tools safely.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning products and supplies.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and ensure tools are properly maintained.

 

Job Requirements

 

  • 1+ years of custodial, janitorial, or facilities support experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and handle cleaning chemicals responsibly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to perform repetitive cleaning and manual tasks.
  • May require early morning, evening, or occasional weekend hours.
  • Office, corporate, or facility setting with frequent movement between buildings.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment with proper safety measures required.
