Job Summary


The Oldcastle APG is seeking a Logistics Manager to manage vendor relationships, oversee the development of logistics-related process and systems, and provide analytic support. Oldcastle APG’s outbound freight spend exceeds $250M and the group executes nearly $1M shipments per year, combining its own private fleet and third-party carriers. The Logistics Manager role will report to the Director of the Florida Transportation Group but will be responsible for APG-wide support. The Logistics Manager will have dotted line responsibility to the APG Procurement Director and will provide direct support to regional logistics managers/dispatchers. Goal of the role is to ensure effective delivery of products to our customers at the lowest possible cost.


  • Primary point of contact for specific logistic-related vendors to include rolling stock asset manufacturers and resellers, transportation management service providers, and technology developers
  • Serve as APG’s primary point of contact with the CRH’s Logistics Category Management team, which leverages CRH scale in procurement of third party carriers, brokerage services, and asset management system
  • Coordinate and collaborate with APG IT to set requirements and priorities for logistics-related systems and tools
  • Lead in planning and execution of improvements to internal and external logistics systems and processes
  • Own process to deploy systems and technologies that support needs of the businesses, such as freight rate database and Oracle transportation management system (OTM)
  • Provide solutions and recommendations to businesses by analyzing the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes/mix and carriers
  • Manage logistics administration personnel as required
  • Establish logistics performance measurement systems and support businesses by actively taking steps to improve on identified gaps
  • Support local companies in negotiation of transportation rates and services
  • Deliver on carrier compliance, ensuring company safety policies as well as insurance requirements for third-party carriers and DOT compliance for private fleet
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed 




  • 5+ years’ logistics/distribution multi-site management experience utilizing truck, IMC & ocean freight movement in companies
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to plan, execute and achieve long term goals
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Hands-on involvement with company logistic teams in implementing logistics best practices
  • Experience in multi-channel distribution.
  • Experience in ERP and TMS systems, including ELD, freight rate systems, tableau and Microsoft office
  • Travel up to 60% of the time
