Overview

 

Oldcastle APG is looking for a Product Owner with strong and proven experience in Business Intelligence & Analytics. In this role you will shape and drive our agile product delivery for data, analytics and business intelligence. As the Product Owner - BI & Analytics, you will be responsible for owning, and maintaining the team-level Product Backlog, including definition of user stories and acceptance criteria and working directly with the data engineers to successfully deliver value. You will need to be able to demonstrate a drive for delivering business results, use rich interpersonal skills, a proactive approach to problem solving, and be comfortable making quick, data-driven decisions and coordinating across functional teams.

 

Job Summary

 

  • Decompose features into stories in alignment with the priorities for the BI/Analytics functions from the Program Implement Planning Roadmap in a SAFe Agile Environment
  • Partner with the Business, Technology and Business Solutions Manager to shape the strategy and roadmap within the BI/Analytics functions 
  • Responsible for defining stories and prioritizing Team Backlog by business value or ROI to execute programs while maintaining integrity of the features
  • Responsible for defining and writing users stories, acceptance criteria (definition of done), acceptance testing and empowered to work with QA to accept stories as done
  • Manage the solution roadmap and backlog for one or more capabilities
  • Serves as the primary source for story detail and priorities during sprint planning meetings
  • Work within their team(s) to translate / interpret into stories, drafts user stories for and with the team
  • Ensures User Stories completed by the team meet the Stakeholder requirements
  • Accurately report on current project status on a weekly basis
  • Assist and partner with the Scrum Master to help the team to execute the vision, roadmap, content and presentations (team meetings, stand up meetings, demos and retrospective at a minimum) 
  • Assist the Business Solutions Manager to obtain customer needs in order to Identify, understand and communicate appropriately to application development teams to ensure successful implementation of new capabilities and features
  • Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in BI & Analytics features, design and high-level architecture in order to apply best practices and guide the requirements gathering process
  • Develop and maintain solid understanding of the building material industry
  • Assist the Business Solution Manager and Scrum Master to foster a collaborative team environment within and across teams, participates in all Scrum Ceremonies
  • Partner with the Team to identify opportunities for continuous improvement

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, business administration or related field is required
  • 3-5 years in Product/Project management or related role, 2+ year as a Product Owner in BI & Analytics space
  • Knowledgeable in technology and software development processes
  • Good understanding of Data warehouse and BI concepts
  • Extensive experience in translating customer requirements into Agile user stories
  • Strong Data analysis skills, strong in PL/SQL
  • Experience with Tableau is a plus
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and developing relationships with team members and customers
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Capabilities and Qualifications

 

  • Atlanta based, co-located with the team 
  • Travel 10-15% to Oldcastle APG sites as projects or BSM deems necessary to engage the customer
  • Experience partnering with application design teams and guiding User Experience, QA and Training
  • Working knowledge of Jira preferred
  • Manufacturing industry experience
  • Understand BI needs of Supply Chain & Finance
