Job Summary

 

Avon Manufacturing is a custom manufacturer of steel molds for the CRH/Oldcastle Infrastructure nationwide family of precast concrete plants. Each mold is made to order based on custom designs and engineering. We are looking for an experienced welder/fabricator with a background in leading teams to manufacture molds from blueprints from start to finish using a variety of processes. This is a hands-on path to leadership role.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Embody a strong safety culture by displaying and enforcing CRH/Oldcastle safety policies and procedures
  • Learn every process in the shop from existing foreman and be able to make decisions and adjustements to team member workloads to optimize the flow of production
  • Steel fabrication of heavy gauge materials and components
  • Fitting, setting, and assembling fabricated structures
  • Cutting and welding with a variety of processes (primarily MIG welding)
  • Inspecting and testing welds
  • Enforce shop housekeeping procedures to ensure safe and well-organized work areas
  • Track production, maintenance, safety consumables and alert management or vendors of the need for re-stock
  • Attend daily production meetings
  • Attend blueprint reviews with other foreman and drafters
  • Overseeing team members' quality and control 
  • Mentor and development junior welders as needed

 

Job Requirements

 

  • At least 5 years of experience in the following areas
  • Fabricating structural steel and plate
  • Leading a team preferably in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
  • Capable of fabricating from blueprints
  • Hand and power tool experience
  • Measuring instrument use and the ability to calculate/copy angles
  • Experience with overhead crane use, to include safety and proper rigging is necessary
  • Experience operating a variety of metalworking machinery (plasma cutters, grinders, welders, drills, punches, press brake, hydraulic presses, machining, exc.)
  • Punctuality and Reliability 
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • The ability to sit/stand/kneel/crouch
