Meadow Burke, Converse, TX is seeking a Safety Coordinator with a leadership spirit to be responsible for directing projects in support of the Oldcastle’s safety program(s). This position will work closely with all levels of management and hourly employees to ensure safety and promote our safety culture. The Safety Coordinator provides technical safety and health support to plant personnel. Monitors safety and health regulations and provides technical support to plant personnel to ensure compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, in this critical role you serve as member of the management team and will help drive performance in all measurable areas including, quality, delivery, and cost with Safety on the forefront of our agenda, all in pursuit of propelling the location to a world class production facility.



  • Assists Plant Managers in designing, defining, improving and maintaining their safety programs
  • Educate employees via the Safety Steering Committee (SSC) to the level of “risk assessment” understanding to ensure goals towards a zero accident, zero incident workplace goals are being met
  • Leads and serves as member of the safety committee. Reviews plant safety committee meeting minutes and safety inspection reports and follows up as necessary
  • Manage and review all work-related injury situations including minor injuries, recordable injuries, incident documentation and investigation, and improve record keeping
  • Keep open communication with regional EHS, including all minor and major injury reporting
  • Identify/analyze potential workplace hazards to avoid accidents and injuries
  • Prepare and conduct safety training sessions for employees, including written policies
  • Track incident metrics and safety trainings
  • Identifies company safety training needs and develops and coordinates safety training programs
  • Provide leadership in administering and adhering to company’s safety, environmental and quality policies
  • Develops annual company safety and health goals
  • Participates in new product/process reviews, including process hazard analyses, operator training, etc
  • Supports plant engineering to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards
  • Supports plant personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Assists as necessary in implementation of a hazard communication program and preparation of reports
  • Reviews process-operating procedures/records and provides input for safety and health considerations
  • Understands federal and state occupational safety and health regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur
  • Provides technical support to plant personnel to ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety and health regulations
  • Audits practices and records of manufacturing plants to ensure compliance with company programs and federal/state occupational safety and health regulations
  • Continually study government agency regulatory requirements to ensure compliance, while improving personal skills and knowledge

  • Excellent communication skills are required-verbally and in writing
  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EH&S
  • OSHA 30 HR Course Certification
  • Ability to train, influence, motivate, and lead others
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work


This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Must be on call for assisting injured employees or incidents at all hours of the night.




Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.


Physical Requirements


  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  •  No lifting more than 40 pounds without using a forklift, dolly or other apparatus
  • Endure intermittent climbing, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling
  • Walking and standing for long periods of time
