Job Summary

Complies and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. This position uses gauges and other devices to verify conformity to standards of products. Suggests and recommends changes regarding special requirements. Assists in implementing the quality management program and assists in training others on quality management. Investigates abnormalities with products and processes internally as well as investigates replacements with customers externally.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Investigates external and internal non-conforming products via employee requests or external customer complaints
  • Prepares credit and replacement authorizations for defective product utilizing established protocol
  • Identifies and isolates non-conforming products
  • Completes routine reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Reports include best practice reports, daily production output, production yields, internal scrap, etc.
  • Maintains the calibration of quality tools or devices and keeps records current
  • Special projects as determined by management
  • 25% Sedentary, 75% walking in the plant checking product.


Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements

To be considered for a Quality Technician position, the following conditions must be met:

  • Read and perform mathematical calculations and measurements with numbers, fractions, and decimals normally acquired through high school education or equivalency
  • Minimum of two years, production and inspection experience with glass or related product
  • Organized, self-starter with the ability to handle numerous projects, phones, prioritize workload & work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to communicate effectively & conduct themselves professionally; excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office including Excel, Word & Access
  • Prior experience using windows-based software
  • Regular and predictable attendance safely perform tasks, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of your job.



Personal desktop computers, fax machine, copy machine, calculator, writing instruments, telephone, camera, measurement tools, overhead cranes, and various printers

Issued safety equipment



Hazards - Exposure to chemicals/fumes, pinch points, exposure to excessive noise, strain/sprain, laceration/puncture, particulate exposure, contusion, temperature extremes, slipping, burns, shock, loss of limbs

Controls - Personal protective equipment, safety training, written procedures

Safety Equipment – Hard hat, back belt, safety glasses, steel toe shoes/boots, cut resistant gloves, cut resistant outerwear, other equipment as dictated by the specific department.
