Position Overview


This is a skilled position requiring the individual to manage a variety of functions related to construction field operations.


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

 

  • Safety of all personnel working within the construction field operations 
  • Oversee work pursuit efforts.  Manage Estimating Manager who direct estimators.
  • Manage team to identify, analyze and maximize bidding opportunities within geographical market while aligning estimating resources towards successful bidding.
  • Maintain a current market awareness of pricing and backlog.
  • Responsible for overall department profitability.  Budgets, projections, costs, along with maintaining and monitoring backlog and job under pursuit.
  • Facilitate and execute on recruiting strageties.
  • Ensure and promote employee development, training and retention.
  • Assist during design build pursuits.
  • Manage team that oversees the daily construction operations, including scheduling equipment and manpower, and coordinating trucking needs with the transportation manager. 
  • Assure that company operations are conducted according to highest standards in regard to safety performance, employee relations, environmental, quality products and workmanship, ethical standards, community relations, production levels, and profitability expectations.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  • Ensure that construction best practices, performance tools, and scorecards are accurate and utilized to enhance quality and performance.
  • Other duties as assigned per supervisor


Supervisory Responsibilities  

 

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Qualifications

 

Education/Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or other related field is a plus. Five+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Operations, Sales, Quality Control, Customer Service/Dispatch, Project Management, Estimating and Supervisory experience preferred.  

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

 

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write clearly and effectively.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, common fractions, and decimals.

  •  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

 

Work Environment

 

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
