Position Overview
The Bulker Driver is responsible for driving the cement tanker to supply terminals to pick up product and return to designated plants for unloading.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Operates truck in safe and professional manner on public highways, roads, in the yard area to deliver materials.
- Inspects truck and bulker trailer as required at the start and end of each workday, completing the Driver Check-off Sheet which indicates that all systems are functioning properly.
- Maintain accurate delivery records and required daily vehicle logs.
- Load and unload materials in a safe and efficient manner, including assembling loading and unloading tubes.
- Assist with cement spill cleanup as needed.
- Clean truck after loading and delivery to prevent cement from hardening on truck and trailer in addition to spraying surfaces of truck with wash compound in accordance with company standards.
- Responsible for the efficient working condition of truck and trailer including perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
- Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources.
- Must meet all eligibility requirements for driving a commercial motor vehicle in interstate commerce as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and the Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements including but not limited to vehicle weight, licensing, vehicle inspection and hours of service.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- One to two years Class A CDL driving experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience in a building materials/construction industry preferred.
Work Requirements
- Must be 21 years in age or older.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker Endorsement.
- Must possess and maintain a valid DOT Medical Certificate.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safety Manuals.
- Regular, on-time and consistent attendance is required and must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays and work away from home when required.
- Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA, Company Policy and specific Job Site Requirements.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Ability to operate a Class A Truck with a Tanker Trailer, safely and efficiently under a variety of working conditions.
- Ability to read and comprehend policies, instructions, site maps, city street maps and other GPS based equipment information.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as being able to work independently with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate, understand and follow in both verbal and written instructions.
- Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and basic math skills required.
- Ability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally.
- Able to utilize a tablet for load status, time keeping, training and other items
- Demonstrated ability to take guidance and direction from a supervisor.

- Able to communicate with others by email, telephone and in person. Able to utilize a computer, phone or tablet for typing, message, data management, timekeeping, and communicating by voice or text.
- Able to frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and talk or hear.
- Able to use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, lift hands and arms above shoulder level, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- May require sitting for extended periods of time.
- Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Able to climb stairs, ladders, inclined walkways and access elevated platforms.
- Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. A variety of noise levels, adverse weather conditions, and complex job sites are to be expected daily. Proper clothing, PPE (personal protective equipment), and safety precautions should be taken to ensure your safety, and the safety of others in all conditions.
