Position Overview
CRH is looking for an Accounting Advisory Manager. This is a unique opportunity to lead a highly respected team within Group Finance overseeing the Group’s accounting function, working with senior stakeholders across a range of teams in CRH Group, CRH divisional offices and the operations to provide practical solutions to accounting complexities.
The Accounting Advisory Team forms part of the External Reporting function at CRH and is based in Stonemasons’ Way, Rathfarnham, Dublin. It is a high performing 5-person team with a diverse range of backgrounds, skills, and experience.
The team is a valued business partner that supports the business development and tax teams to determine the optimal structures for deals; supports local finance teams in preparing opening balance sheets for newly acquired businesses; presents at internal conferences and delivers training; and responds to ad-hoc US GAAP queries across the Group as they arise. Project-based work includes preparing the Group for changes in accounting policies and developing / maintaining the Group accounting manual in conjunction with key stakeholders.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
In this role, you will be:
Assessing the accounting implications of potential deals with business development teams.
Refining the Group accounting manual.
Resolving US GAAP accounting issues with colleagues, including the internal / monthly reporting, internal audit, tax, and treasury teams, along with operational finance teams and divisional controllers.
Contributing to the Accounting Advisory Team’s external reporting tasks.
Coaching and mentoring junior team members.
Presenting accounting matters at a range of gatherings of Group, Divisional and operating company colleagues.
Providing practical solutions to accounting issues.
Acting as a business partner to different functions across the Group including development, divisional and operational finance teams, procurement, technical services etc.
Supporting newly acquired businesses to align with CRH’s accounting policies
Key Functional Competencies and Relevant Experience
You are/have:
Strong interest in US GAAP.

Demonstrated track record of relevant management skills.

Excellent communication skills both written and oral, ability to communicate complex accounting issues in a clear and concise manner
Your Education and Experience
Qualified accountant with minimum 8 years’ PQE
Strong financial accounting background essential.
Experience in US GAAP & IFRS 10 control assessments, business combinations and divestment accounting are advantageous
