Position Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant to join the CCTL team in CRH. This is a dynamic and exciting environment within the Group and the role sits within the CCTL finance team. This is a varied and challenging role in an area of the business dealing with a wide variety of jurisdictions.
The successful candidate will be an early career finance professional, a self-starter who can adapt and respond to a changing environment. 
This role will report into the Finance Director, along with a Senior Financial Accountant, who together will provide high quality financial and decision support information to the CCTL management team. The successful candidate will be a key member of the team with a supporting role ensuring strong accurate financial reporting, detailed analysis, strong internal controls and compliance together with the provision of business insight to drive the various projects within CCTL.

 

Overview of CRH Cementitious Trading (CCTL)
CCTL is an operating company that supports CRH globally to create value by

  • formulating global strategy for the management of cementitious product flows;
  • identifying imbalances in supply/demand and proposing trading volumes to ensure supply and to export surpluses exploiting arbitrages between regions;
  • achieving synergies in the purchase of cementitious products from third parties;
  • trading seaborne cementitious materials from/to CRH OpCos and third parties using global surpluses and deficits and providing efficient and competitive seaborne transportation of materials;
  • providing market intelligence related to the global supply & demand of cementitious products, freight and its potential impact for the Group.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Accounts Payable function 

  • Create new suppliers in the financial system and make all relevant know your supplier checks as per company policy 
  • Setting up new suppliers in the bank system and verification of details 
  • Crosscheck POs are entered into the system correctly at numerous data points – (List Code, Currency, Financial Dimensions, Values) 
  • Processing purchase invoices in a timely manner and matching to approved system generated PO 
  • Create new VAT scenarios in the financial system 
  • Sending payment instructions to banks and verification of same 
  • Maintaining accounts payable listings and monthly reconciliation of balances 
  • Processing of Bi-weekly payment run within agreed all payment terms are met 
  • Processing bank transactions into the accounting system 

 

Accounts Receivable function 

  • Set up of customers on the financial system, ensuring VAT coding / currency is correctly reflected 
  • Crosscheck Sales orders are entered into the system correctly at numerous data points – (List Code, Currency, Financial Dimensions, Values) 
  • Prepare proforma and final invoices – liaising with Trading team to ensure Proformas are in order to issue final invoice 
  • Send out final invoices and statements to customers 
  • Credit control – preparing weekly statements for Trading Director 
  • Manage receipts and ensuring receivables are kept to a minimum 

 

Cash Management 

  • Preparation of daily cashflow reporting to identify treasury needs in multi currency 
  • Collation of data to ensure accurate cashflow forecasting 
  • Analysis and preparation of Net Asset position for reporting to Group Treasury 

 

General Ledger 

  • Bank and control account reconciliation 
  • Monthly reporting and analysis including leasing, prepayments and fixed asset management 
  • Revenue returns preparation including submission to authorities 

 

General 

  • Dealing efficiently with queries by e-mail and telephone; 
  • Scanning and filing of documents and correspondence; 
  • Support internal and external audit processes 
  • Assist with monthly financial accounting close process

Experience / Education

  • Previous accounts experience is essential, part-qualified accountant desirable;
  • Accounting transaction processing experience desirable; 
  • Experience of the Dynamics financial system an advantage;
  • Fluency in English essential.
