The Group Information Services team (GIS) are looking to hire an Information Security Engineer. The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of operational, tactical and strategic initiatives as part CRH’s information security programme and will provide technical and business support activities across Europe, Americas and APAC regions focusing on technical services and best practices
The Information Security Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the effective integration and optimization of cybersecurity technology solutions, enhancing security posture across the organization. Oversee the design, configuration, and deployment of cybersecurity solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and optimize various cybersecurity technology solutions, including web proxy, email filtering, endpoint protection and SIEM solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand security requirements.
- Provide security engineering support and advisory services to various business units, divisions, and regions.
- Manage change projects to completion within budget (money, time, resources), on schedule and with adherence to CRH change management processes.
- Manage the configuration and administration of email security solutions and assist in projects as needed.
- Support and enhance threat detection and vulnerability response capabilities across our global operations.
- Support Splunk deployment and facilitiate dashboard creation as required.
- Engaging with business stakeholders to understand business requirements; gathering and facilitiatng the convergence of business, technical and security requirements; liasing with IT to align the environment with exisiting and future requirements.
- Document processes, workflows, and solutions using ITIL and BPMN methodologies.
Key Characteristics
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document, present, and explain technical issues in a clear, non-technical manner to audiences with varying levels of expertise.
- In-depth knowledge of security engineering practices and a comprehensive understanding of various cybersecurity solutions including Web proxy, Email filtering, Endpoint Protection, SIEM solutions.
- Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and best practices in security processes.

- Self-motivated and results-driven with a strong focus on achieving objectives.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal leadership to ensure security awareness and effectively communicate security issues.
Education and Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in similar type role
- Third Level qualification (or equivalent) in information technology, Information Security or Engineering.
- CISSP, CCSP, GCIH, GIAC (SANS), CCNP, Splunk certificates and / or other relevant security/Network type engineering certifications.
- Experience with security technologies such as firewalls, endpoint protection, SIEM, and email security solutions.
- Knowledge of modern security frameworks, cryptographic controls, and network security protocols.
- Experience of hardening and applying modern security standards across servers, workstations, SaaS-based solutions and network equipment.
- Experience with O365 administration
- Experience with Mail and Messaging technologies
