Position Overview 

CRH is looking for a Raw Mix Manager for its Group Technical Services (GTS). GTS has successful, ongoing initiatives focused on Performance improvement, Quality improvement and the environment.  

 

The Raw Mix Manager will:

  • Support the delivery of the following activities globally in all CRH cement plants:
    • Raw Mix Design and optimisation, including effective tool development, optimisation, and deployment etc,
    • Blend Control Expert Software (stockpile & raw mill) installation, upgrade, and optimization
    • Critical raw mix control activities, e.g., Raw material pre-homogenization, effective raw meal sampling, homogenization, CKD handling etc.,
    • Online analysis and real time process control technologies following up & rollouts
    • Evaluation/Inclusion of suitable decarbonization ARM’s in plant Raw Mix Design

 

  • And ensure that
    • CRH production facilities are aware of raw mix design and control development in the sector and are well placed to implement such developments effectively
    • CRH Management is fully informed on Raw Mix Design and Control issues

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the CRH raw mix design optimizer tool development and rollout, to realize benefits in term quality, reserve management and use of alternative materials
  • Lead the cross-belt analyzer work stream across CRH plants, liaise with plants and suppliers to ensure analyzer operational excellence, and follow up and communicate new development of technologies.
  • Deliver effective training of plant champions on raw mix design & raw mix control software and cross belt analyzer, by implementing annual training and feedback program, with support of leading industry experts.
  • Support plants over assigned raw mix optimization projects to evaluate different options: understand impacts to cost, reserve, quality, and CO2 etc. 
    • Work with plant process people to develop raw mix baseline and possible scenarios
    • Communicate with GTS stakeholders and support selection of raw materials.
    • Support development of handling and dosing system
    • Deliver reports on project status to management.
  • Ensure availability of all necessary SOPs e.g., homo silo evaluation to all CRH plants.
  • Prepare various reports of the progress, such as monthly report, project progress / status reports, plant visit reports etc.

Leadership Competencies

You are/have:

  • Strong technical skills and hands-on experiences working in cement plants
  • Ability to deal effectively with in-house and external “customers”, strong communication skills
  • Autonomy in driving performance and challenging the operation
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Ability to strictly manage processes and deadlines

 

Key Functional Competencies and Relevant Experience

You possess the following:

  • Ideally a Process Engineer or Chemical Engineer in Chemistry, Mineralogy or Material Science with a minimum 5-10 years’ experience in the cement industry
  • Expert knowledge of Raw Mix Design and Control in the cement industry, strong understanding of cement production processes, raw materials, equipment cement products
  • Customer Focused
  • Track record working in corporate / consulting environment
  • Excellent MS Office analysis skills and analytical thinking
  • Ability to interpret and present information and data in a practical format and articulate to all levels
