Job Summary

Our location in Hamilton, OH (Cincinnati) is looking for an Estimator to join our team. This position requires interacting with customers by providing product and service information, resolving concerns, and processing orders. Responsibilities also include evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that we know everything required to successfully bid and win the project. Estimators must follow-up with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received, and also work with the Project Management teams to follow-up on bids and budgets to close the business. We are looking for hard workers who want to grow and develop with us.  This position may have daily or weekend overtime as dictated by production needs.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•    Maintain broad knowledge of clients, products and services of the organization
•    Listen attentively to customer needs and concerns, demonstrate empathy, and be an advocate for the customer. Document customer interactions and transactions
•    Accurate data entry of phoned, faxed, and e-mailed quotes and orders in accordance with cut off times and other time constraints that may exist
•    Resolve product or service problems by clarifying customer’s complaint; determining the cause of the problem; selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustments; following up to ensure resolution
•    Create stock length cost proposals for customers based on elevation take-offs, using our price book and computer software
•    Write orders, purchase requisitions, metal requests, credits and MRA’s
•    Provide pricing of change orders and backorders to insure accurate invoicing
•    Provide detailed estimates to our customers in a timely manner.  Work from architectural drawings and specifications, shop drawings or elevation take-offs
•    Follow up on estimates and provide feedback concerning market pricing levels
•     Enter orders, door fab sheets, metal requests, and assist walk-in customers
•    Provide consultation, coordination, and assistance to our customers, sales force and internal personnel
•    Maintain detailed and organized records of bid documents, correspondence and other project-specific information
•    Assist with phone coverage
•    Regular and predictable attendance including overtime 
•    The "team concept" instituted for shop floor production workers requires each worker to perform different functions on a rotating basis

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements

To be considered for the Estimator position, the following conditions must be met:

•    A minimum of 5 years previous customer service experience, required
•    A minimum of 3 years previous estimating experience, required
•    Previous customer service experience in warehouse/manufacturing industry, preferred
•    Ability to read, interpret, & understand architectural drawings and specifications and provide detailed take offs and estimates that incorporate different building envelope solutions
•    Have experience using computer software estimating programs to prepare estimates 
•    Knowledge of aluminum glazing systems & their applications
•    Strong geometry & math skills
•    Organized, self-starter with the ability to handle numerous projects, phones, prioritize workload & work with minimal supervision
•    Must be able to communicate effectively & conduct themselves professionally; excellent written & verbal communication skills
•    Need to have good working knowledge of fabrication and installation in order to have good understanding of customer needs
•    Knowledge and experience of custom door hardware application and pricing
