Texas Materials is seeking a high-impact Area Operations Manager to lead our asphalt plant operations across the East Texas markets. This is a key leadership position responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of multiple asphalt production facilities while developing the people, processes, and culture that drive long-term success.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on operational leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building high-performing teams, and is passionate about continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence. Working closely with plant personnel, operations leadership, construction teams, and customers, you'll have the opportunity to directly influence business performance across one of Texas Materials' most important markets.
 
What You'll Do
As Area Operations Manager, you will:
  • Lead the day-to-day operations and maintenance of multiple asphalt plants throughout East Texas.
  • Champion a culture where safety is the highest priority and every employee goes home safely each day.
  • Coach, develop, and mentor plant managers and operational teams to achieve their full potential.
  • Drive production efficiency, equipment reliability, product quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage plant maintenance programs to maximize uptime and operational performance.
  • Partner with leadership to develop capital improvement plans and oversee major investment projects.
  • Monitor operational costs, manage budgets, and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Oversee raw material inventory, procurement planning, and supply chain coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with construction, quality control, sales, and support teams to deliver outstanding results for customers.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in asphalt operations, aggregates, construction materials, manufacturing, or a related industry.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams, operations, and production facilities.
  • Strong understanding of asphalt production processes, plant maintenance, and equipment performance.
  • Experience managing budgets, capital projects, and operational expenses.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and people-development skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, solve complex problems, and make sound business decisions.
  • Working knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong technical and computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
