Job Summary
Oldcastle Infrastructure is seeking an EHS Intern who wants hands-on experience in safety, sustainability, and environmental compliance. You will work with EHS professionals and engineers on real projects, including risk assessments, safety program implementation, and environmental compliance activities that support capital expenditure projects. This role is a strong opportunity to apply your classroom knowledge, build technical skills, and explore a future career in Environmental Health and Safety.
This position is expected to start in person around May 2026 and continue through the entire summer term (i.e. May through August). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time, onsite for most internships.
Job Location
This is an onsite position in Kenosha, WI.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist with developing, managing, and implementing safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety-related regulations.
- Support environmental compliance activities, including waste management, air and water compliance, and documentation related to environmental permitting and capital expenditure (CapEx) environmental projects.
- Update and maintain EHS documentation to support standardization across the facility.
- Assist with conducting risk assessments and evaluating risk-management information to identify potential safety and environmental hazards, impacts, and improvement opportunities.
- Participate in implementing corrective and preventive actions, helping drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyze and organize data to show trends and help prioritize focus areas that will make the biggest impact to the business.
- Participate in site inspections and walkthroughs, evaluating the use of personal protective equipment (respirators, protective eyewear, and hardhats as applicable) and identifying job hazards.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, operations leaders, and project teams, particularly on process improvements and safety/environmental system implementations.
Job Requirements
- Sophomore, Junior, or Senior pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other computing skills.
- Strong analytical, data management skills.
- Ability to write and communicate technical information clearly and concisely
Compensation
- The hourly pay rate is $25/hr
