Irish Cement Limited is seeking applications for a permanent position of Quality Manager in Platin Works, Drogheda, Co. Louth.

It operates two cement-manufacturing facilities, one situated in Platin, approximately 5km from Drogheda, Co. Louth and a second in Castlemungret, Co. Limerick. Production uses the most advanced, energy-efficient technology to create a range of high-quality cements to the highest Irish and International standards.
The successful applicant will be based in Platin Works, and will be reporting directly to the Production Manager, with functional responsibility to the Technical Department in Irish Cement Head Office, Drogheda, Co. Louth.
Purpose:
- Ensuring that all necessary sampling, testing, result recording and subsequent data management takes place on time and to the highest standard.
- People management and Leadership skills including direct management of the laboratory team.
- Management of outsourced testing of products both internal and external
- Responsible for calibrating laboratory equipment.
- Maintain product conformity to the relevant standards I.S EN 197 and I.S EN 15167.
- Responsible for organising service visits from equipment suppliers to service machines.
- Maintain ISO 9001 quality management system.
- Responsible for compiling the weekly quality report.
- Assist in trouble shooting with kiln process / chemical issues.
- Responsible for inventory of spare parts and consumables for the laboratory.
Standards of Performance
- Awareness of Health and Safety in heavy industry
- Ideally the candidate will have knowledge of XRF and XRD analytical techniques and machinery operation.
Candidates should preferably possess:
- A third level chemistry qualification or can demonstrate considerable knowledge & experience of laboratory operations
- At least 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role within a manufacturing working environment
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Proven technical skills and strong commercial acumen
- Excellent IT skills - MS Office
- Strong attention to detail and capable of working on your own initiative whilst meeting production deadlines
- A work history of contributing and adding value to the overall performance of a previous employer(s)
Outstanding candidates who do not possess all of the above criteria may also be considered. A remuneration package will be provided commensurate with experience.
