Summary:
The Quality Control Manager strives for continuous improvement through inter-departmental cross functionality. The position oversees the management of all aspects of quality control including, but not limited to, quarry mining, raw material sourcing and handling, laboratory(s) testing and compliance, and shipping under the direction of the Plant Manager.
What you’ll be contributing:
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Manages the Quarry, Laboratory and Shipping/Raw Materials Supervisors within the Quality Control Department
- Provides leadership and direction in the areas of EH&S and Quality to ensure these elements are incorporated into the way we run our business.
- Works with management team to develop short and long-range business goals and performance objectives for the plant in addition to directing resources as necessary to meet and/or exceed performance objectives.
- Regularly reviews department’s performance compared to budget, operating plan/forecast, including status of capital projects, and holds supervisors accountable for their performance.
- Provides a positive work environment for staff to maximize their personal and organizational potential.
- Participate in escalated human resource activities.
- Improves the plant's performance through ongoing education, training and development of key personnel, quality hiring and succession and workforce planning.
- Communicates information timely and regularly with direct reports and other managers and employees within the plant.
- Provides value-driven leadership in sustaining Ash Grove’s culture, including but not limited to, customer focus, EH&S, employee relations, cost controls, and community relations.
- Collaborates with Production Management to address concerns and make recommendations for improvements both proactively and reactively.
- Evaluates potential beneficial use of alternative raw materials for possible use in the cement manufacturing process.
- Maintains a close working relationship with Sales & Marketing and customers.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
To succeed in this position, you will need:
- Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Minimum 4 years - bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, chemistry, biology, geology, or related field.
- Graduate degree in Engineering, construction management, chemistry, biology, geology, or related field preferred
- Minimum 7 years of experience in industry related field with managerial experience
- Knowledge of a high commitment to quality
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data
