Basic Function

 

  • Oversees day-to-day operations of the assigned production engineering group.  
  • A successful Supervisor will aid in the resolution of scope design and schedule problems as they develop; train their direct reports on policies, procedures and protocol and control the expected results; plan department workload and manage schedules; control costs of department including department overtime, bid over runs and errors. 
  • This position is also responsible for handling the day-to-day personnel issues with regard to the production engineering team.

 

Specific Duties

 

  • Direct responsibility to follow the customer service policies and guidelines to insure compliance of department expectations.
  • Maintain a presence within the engineering department.
  • Manage the group to produce high uality work on all assignments.
  • Plan workload and manage the detailers schedule including controlling time parameter of detailers, direct, indirect, vacation, and overtime hours.
  • Review detailer progress…complexity of assignments, problem resolution, time parameters, meeting commitments and performance expectations.
  • Work with OBE designers and engineers to design projects to support minimum throughput time, optimum profitability, minimum manufacturing, minimum erection costs.
  • Troubleshoot engineering related problems and setup advanced training to develop detailers.
  • Setup operating procedures or guidelines to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of detailers to improve the engineering processes.
  • Coach and counsel detailers on performance growth and career path.
  • Recommend for approval…Personnel actions on performance, merit increases, transfers or other employee actions as reuired.
  • Prepare and submit to General Manager end of month briefing report reviewing performance metrics of team.
  • Supply management with information and reports to enhance management of department and recommend changes to improve services and profit.
  • Assist in supporting project managers in mediating field service and back charge issues related to engineering issues.
  • Champion safety within your group.

 

Qualifications

 

  • 10+ years related experience
  • Bachelor degree preferred – mechanical or architectural
  • Ability to perform above listed duties
  • Self directed, minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
